Kris Cailin is a semi-abstract artist living in rural midwestern Ontario. Inspired by nature and how the human experience overlaps with it, Kris has a particular penchant for character trees, which are often featured within her paintings.
Oil over acrylic, inks, pastels, and a variety of brushes and paint knives help Kris explore forests, streetscapes, wildlife and more though loose, playful brushstrokes.
From the artist:
When I paint, it feels like a conversation with the subjects within the scene. The trees, the clouds, they tell me their truths, and I try to depict those. I work at my own pace, relishing the process, listening. I believe that there's art and music in all of us, and in all that surrounds us. I love teasing that out.
A collection of figures in landscapes was recently released and some of the work is now available as prints.
